Two Year Anniversary Celebration and Seminar

April 1st marks two years of operation for Underdog Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  We celebrated with a two day seminar with Professor Teles's coach and Pitbull Gracie Barra founder Adilson "Bitta" Lima.  The weekend was a great success and a good time was had by all.  This weekend marked a great achievement for Professor Teles as his first student and friend in the United States, Mike Keyahias was promoted to black belt.  We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all those who make this team possible.

After many years of hard work Mike Keyahias has been promoted to the rank of black belt by Adilson "Bitta" Lima.   His first student and his first black belt, Mike has been training with Professor Teles since 1998 and has set the standard for dedication to his teacher and his academy.  Join me in congratulating Mike on this awesome achievement.

Join Underdog Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a seminar with Adilson "Bitta" Lima.  Bitta is a 5th degree black belt under Carlos Gracie Jr. and has been the coach and mentor of UBJJ head instructor Fabiano Teles since his early training in Brazil.

The seminar will be two days:  Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th from 10am to 1pm each day.  The first day of the seminar will be with the gi, and the second day will be no-gi and oriented towards grappling for mma. 

The cost of the seminar is 70$ for one day and 100$ for both days.  Anyone is welcome to attend regardless of affiliation or experience level.

Afternoon Classes Mondays and Wednesdays

Starting on January 11th, 2009, we will be offering 11am BJJ classes on Mondays and Wednesdays taught by UBJJ brown belt, Rafael Quinones.  Immediately afterwards we will have Strength and Conditioning classes with Coach Doyle @ 12:30pm.  We've got hot showers downstairs in our locker room so you can freshen up and before you leave our academy to continue your day.

Underdog BJJ Takes Second Place Overall @ 1st CT BJJ OPEN Competition

Congratulations to all who competed in the first CT Open BJJ tournament.  The event was a success with UBJJ taking second place overall as a team with only 9 competitors competing.  Way to represent!  Fabiano won his superfight against ATT Black belt Leonardo DaSilva triangle choke.  You can check out the video of his match here on you tube.
